Southland is licensed in Crittenden County, taxed by Arkansas and staffed largely by Arkansans, and almost everything about how it is built points east. Downtown Memphis is about seven minutes away across the Mississippi. The floor fills on a Memphis Friday and empties on a Memphis Sunday, the marketing runs on Tennessee radio, and the busiest hours track a city in another state. Understanding that is the difference between arriving at a good time and arriving at a bad one.
The greyhound years still show
The property began life as a dog track, and for most of its existence its gaming was what the statute called electronic games of skill: a screen dealing a hand rather than a dealer doing it with cards. Amendment 100, passed by voters in November 2018, wrote four casino licences into the state constitution and allowed a real pit for the first time. Southland built one, and the result is a floor with two distinct generations of product sitting in the same building. There are about 2,400 slot machines and roughly 50 live tables, and there are also electronic craps and roulette terminals that are a legacy of the older era and still popular with players who want a lower minimum and no dealer.

The High Limit Room has no competitor
This is the fact that most lists miss. Neither of the other two floors in the state runs a dedicated high-limit area, so a player who wants a quiet room, higher denominations and a different service standard has exactly one address in Arkansas and it is this one. It is also the reason the property draws a category of Memphis player who would otherwise fly to a regional resort, and why the room can feel busy on a weeknight when the main floor does not.
When to go, and when not to
Traffic here follows a city rather than a state. Friday and Saturday evenings are shoulder to shoulder from about eight, and the pit runs its widest spread then. Midweek daytime is the opposite, and on a Tuesday afternoon a good share of the tables will be closed rather than empty, which is a different problem: you may find the game you want is not being dealt at all. We checked the floor pattern against the three properties in September 2026, and for a table player who can choose the hour, a Thursday evening is the best fit here, with a full spread and none of the weekend crush.
Minimums and rules
Nothing is published in advance and posted minimums move with the hour. Expect a blackjack seat at a $10 minimum on a quiet weekday afternoon to be a $25 minimum after eight on a Saturday. Read the rule card on the felt rather than the minimum alone, because whether the dealer stands on soft seventeen and whether a natural pays three to two or six to five differ between tables inside this one building. A lower minimum on a six-to-five table is usually the worse seat. Our blackjack guide covers the three pits in detail.
Betting, staying and eating
The retail sportsbook operates as a Betly counter with kiosks that stay open around the clock, and the property also hosts one of the mobile apps tethered to the state's casinos; a $5 minimum deposit is typical on those. Our partner-market guide explains why every app here must sit under a casino. The hotel is a 20-floor tower with 300 rooms, which makes an overnight practical if you would rather not drive the bridge twice.
Which of the three to choose
For slot count, for the largest pit and for the only high-limit room in the state, this is the best choice, and if you live anywhere in the Memphis metro it is not worth considering an alternative. For poker, it has nothing at all and Saracen at Pine Bluff is the only answer. For a weekend built around something other than the floor, Oaklawn at Hot Springs and its thoroughbred meet is better than either. All three sit on our in-person page.
Playing from home instead
This state does not license real-money online casinos, so the floor described here has no regulated app version. Sweepstakes platforms run on a promotional, no-purchase-necessary model and are the usual at-home option; our payout-time testing covers redemption speed.
